A sort of "server browser" where you can join custom Battlefield modes made by EA and other players, or start your own instance of a mode.Me and some friends with a bunch of Battlefield vehicles vs an army of bots? Seems like an excellent use of time. Or you can design a mode specifically to be played against bots, with friends if you like-that's what I'm most excited about. You can play any mode with bots, though, and they'll do their best to make sense of it. That would be pretty easy to set up, even, and the tricky part might just be attracting players. You could equip a 32-player team with K98 rifles from World War 2 and have them fight a single squad of specialists from the year 2042. As well as as-yet-undetailed "tweaks and improvements", it will roll out the Rent-a-Server Program and make changes to matchmaking and server balancing.Īlthough the road map is unfortunately light on concrete dates, it closes with a mention of Giant's Shadow, a new Battlefield 1 map dropping as a free update in December - so I don't think it's too much of a stretch to assume we'll get the rest of this stuff in November.The cherry on top is that Battlefield Portal doesn't just let you muck with stuff from Battlefield 2042: It also includes a selection of maps, classes, weapons, and vehicles from Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 3.Įssentially, Battlefield Portal (which is included with Battlefield 2042 as one of its three main modes) allows everyone to create custom Battlefield sessions and invite friends or the public to play whatever weird custom game mode they've concocted. Finally, a major Battlefield 1 update will roll out sometime in November.It's the first official custom game but presumably not the last. It's a Team Deathmatch mode with no mini-map or soldier name tags, and limited visibility due to fog. A new custom game called Fog of War will debut during Battlefest.Planned activities include log-in rewards, a livestream, a unique Battlepack revision, community missions "and much more", with more information promised soon. Battlefield 1's first Battlefest event kicks off November 16.
One armoured vehicle will be added to each team's base. The capture zone around the flags currently labelled A and C will be reduced in size.
